Making Blockchain Tangible

An Experience Design for Complex Topics

Event Horizon was the most important blockchain event in the energy sector from 2017–2019 and a driver for global and green innovation in the market. From a meeting of start-ups, energy companies, innovators, and investors, a global network was created with the goal of achieving CO2 neutrality.

Media Apparat was part of this innovative event format from the beginning and significantly involved in its conception. The first edition was held in the Vienna Hofburg, and from 2018 Event Horizon took place in Berlin's unique Kraftwerk venue.

Technology in Service of Storytelling

To make the extremely complex blockchain technology explainable and tangible at an event, it was necessary to create a coherent experience design – from the entrance hall to stage design and content through to the individual stations within the location.

2018 – A Groundbreaking Year

With the second edition, Event Horizon moved to Berlin, specifically to the stunning Kraftwerk Berlin. Blockchain and networking were established as the overarching theme. For this, Media Apparat conceived a unique 360° event experience.

360° Experience Design

A light and laser installation with over 550 moving lights served as representatives of the network. 5 stages and 2 pitch stages could be individually experienced by international guests with personal apps and headphones. All stages and the expo area were connected through playful interactive content.

All content was interactive and personalised through an intelligent database. Facts and information about guests were gathered before the event. Through this novel type of content creation, we were able to take storytelling to an unprecedented personal level.
