The Challenge

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is the international umbrella organization of automobile and mobility clubs with over 235 national member organizations in 148 countries. It promotes motorsport and international motor transport. At the annual FIA Prize Giving Gala, the motorsport world champions are honored. Media Apparat was commissioned to co-design the show and create the visual content for the FIA Prize Giving 2016 at the Vienna Hofburg, taking into account the international character of the FIA as well as the cultural relevance of the event location Austria.

Cultural relevance in the staging

The execution

For the event in Vienna, the content was designed to create a direct connection to Austrian culture. Visual elements referencing the Viennese Waltz, "Sound of Music," and "The Third Man" were integrated into the show and interwoven with the choreographies of the dance acts, giving the event a special cultural depth.

From Vienna to St. Petersburg

The visuals were displayed on a massive LED wall that could open and close for presenters and award winners. In 2018, the ceremony took place in St. Petersburg – for this event, Media Apparat enhanced the award visuals with amber elements, reinterpreted them completely, reworked them, and adapted them to a new setup.
